James Crandall graduated with Distinction from the Art Center College of Design in 1981. He has since worked as a free-lance illustrator in the advertising industry, including creating storyboards and pre-production art for Lexus, Honda, Jaguar, Bank of America, Paramount Studios and others. His illustrations have appeared in publications for Hughes Aircraft, Acura, and Road & Track Magazine and his work is included in the book, 50 years of Road & Track: The Art of the Automobile. In recent years, Crandall and his wife have made extended trips to visit his mother's family in Italy. This resulted in a series of paintings depicting scenes of daily life near his grandfather's town of Lucca in the Tuscany region. Concurrently, he has been working on a series of paintings portraying the "car culture" of southern California, illustrating human activities found at local car shows, race courses and car club events. California museum exhibitions include the Pasadena Museum of History and the Pasadena Museum of California Art. James Crandall is an Artist Member of the California Art Club.
