Seattle based Martino Hoss was formally trained both at the University of the Pacific where he received a B.F.A. in drawing and painting, and at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California where he earned a B.F.A. in Advertising Design. Known for his colorful serigraphs of the West, several years ago he began experimenting with pastel on copper. This new medium allows the artist to express his reactions to landscapes quickly and openly. Copper was chosen as a ground because it is pliable, reflective and can be scratched or sanded to become part of the composition. Martino was selected for a solo exhibition at the Governor's Mansion in Olympia, Washington in July/August 2002. His solo exhibitions in California include the Ansel Adams Gallery in Mono Lake. |
