Cecilia Miguez' sculptures infuse the classicism of the academic figure with fantasy and nostalgic charm. Deftly crafted of cast bronze and found objects, works by the Uruguay-born, California based artist are found in the permanent collections of the Museum of Latin American Art ( Long Beach, California), the Long Beach Museum of Art (California), the Museum of Contemporary Art in Montevideo, Uruguay, and the late film director Billy Wilder, who commissioned several sculptures. Recent solo museum exhibitions include the Riverside Museum (California), the Embassy of the Republic of Uruguay (Washington, D.C.), Bakersfield Museum of Art (California), and Museo de Arte Americano de Maldonado (Montevideo, Uruguay).
