In 1971 free-lance artist Arthur Mortimer painted a mural on the side of his then Santa Monica (California) residence. He has painted scores of murals since and is considered one of the originators of the Mural Movement in public places. His mural work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and photographic collections, as well as in newspapers, magazines, books, television and films in the United States and abroad. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Mural Conservancy of Los Angeles and is an Artist Member of the National Society of Mural Painters.
For several years, Mortimer has been pursuing the art of painting en plein air, which allows him the freedom of a smaller format. He currently teaches Life Painting at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California.
