Julio Pro has been involved in the arts since childhood. Besides his interest in the fine arts, he has earned a degree in music and an M.D. degree specializing in anesthesiology. In the early 1980's he became serious about the fine arts and enrolled in night school at the California Art Institute in Los Angeles. This was a small school dedicated to training illustrators. They stressed the basics, including strict discipline in the drawing skills. Besides this intensive training, he also attended many workshops taught by Robert Abbett, Gary Carter, and Ted Goerschner. He has spent most of his career studying with Neil Boyle.
Wildlife and the American West are his prime artistic subjects. In 2002 he exhibited in "Birds In Art" at the Leigh-Yawkey-Woodson Art Museum in Wisconsin where his work was selected for the Museum's permanent collection. He is also in the permanent collections of the United States Air Force at the Pentagon and the Will Rogers Museum in Claremore, Oklahoma. Since 1994 he has consistently placed in the top 100 - 200 of the Arts In The Parks National Competition.
