Color plays a central role in Zolita Sverdlove's critically acclaimed artistic expression. Her extensive art training began at New York City's Art Students League in 1949, continuing at the Provincetown School of Painting with Irving Marantz. She received a Certificate from the Cooper Union Art School in New York City where she studied with Neil Welliver, Karl Schrag, Morris Kantor and Will Barnet. In California she studied life drawing at San Francisco State University and oil painting with Richard Diebenkorn at the San Francisco Art Institute. She returned to New York City to study lithography at the Pratt Graphic Arts Center. Zolita furthered her art education at Southern Methodist University in Texas, then returned to New York City and received an External Degree from Cooper Union Art School in 1977.
Since 1959 Zolita Sverdlove's work has been selected for more than one-hundred juried exhibitions. Selected museum exhibitions include: Hudson River Museum (New York), Dallas Museum of Fine Art (Texas), Beaumont Museum (Texas), Frye Museum (Washington), San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (California), Oakland Museum (California), Springfield Museum (Massachusetts), DeYoung Museum (California), Joslyn Museum (Nebraska), the Pasadena Museum of History (California) and a solo exhibition at Longview Museum (Texas). Her work is in the permanent collections of the Dallas Museum of Fine Art, Owens-Corning Collection of the Toledo Museum, Marymount College (New York), Purdue University, among others.
