Similar to the California scene painters of the early to mid twentieth century, Gary Thomas honed his craft in the motion picture industry. Thomas has more than twenty-five years as a motion picture artist, fourteen of those as a lead artist. Selected films include: "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events", "Hook", "Chaplin", "War of the Roses", "The Muppet Movie", among many others. His entertainment industry work varied from the fifty-five murals he created for the Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland, Tokyo to the continuous backgrounds for the "Tonight Show" since Jay Leno became its star. He is now focused on painting en plein air both in watercolor and oil. His work was exhibited in "Contemporary Masters, Artistic Eden" at the Pasadena Museum of History in 2007.
