Born in Brussels, Belgium in 1962, Regine Verougstraete studied design at St.Luc. She progressed to textile design in Leeds, England, followed by three years at the Academy of Vienna, Austria with Professor Maria Lassnig. She had solo exhibitions at the History Museum in Vienna, Austria; Gallery Hieke in Vienna, Austria; and Artspace at Witzenhausen Meryerink, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Her work was acquired by the City of Vienna and the Vienna Chamber of Commerce in their Art Competitions in 1989, 1992, and 1994. She participated in many group exhibitions in Europe including: Bourse de Vienne (Austria), Stadt Museum, St. Poelten (Austria), and Tecknisches Museum der Stadt Wien, Austria. Regine Verougstraete now lives and paints in South Pasadena, California.
