Nyla Witmore is known for scenes of "intimate landscapes" featuring old buildings, windows, and doorways as common themes. With the world as her subject matter, she paints "on location" several weeks a year and then returns to her Colorado studio to complete still life compositions. She is a member of Oil Painters of America and a Signature Member of Plein Air Artists of Colorado, the Colorado Watercolor Society, and the National Acrylic Painters Association (United States and United Kingdom). Her work has been featured as an "Artist to Watch" in SouthwestArt Magazine and "In Her Own Words: The Life and Art of Nyla Witmore" in the Frontier Airlines Magazine.
